How to tell if generating or using GRID power when PVSolar is installed

Well My eleccy meter has an LED that flashes when power is being drawn off grid and goes steady red when i am feeding power onto grid.

i wanted to know which way round the power was going?

so i devised many a circuit that would count pulses etc, then i remembered i had a current cost development board so had a little play with a std cheap light dependant resistor and a 100K potentiometer and low and behold i could get it to output to the current cost.

shows 500watts when feeding grid and 0 when drawing.
