Acquiring IP

OK, so I have my AVR board built, my LiveBox reflashed with the HAH firmware and my AVR connected.

When I start the system, I get "Booting..." on my LCD, then I get "Acquiring IP", then I get nothing.

I don't seem to be able to access any of the IPs used along the way  or the default IP for the LiveBox.

The lights I get are (1st left flashig, middle perm nothing else).

I get no entry in my dhcp server for a new device.

The only clue I have is that when I had the board disconnected and turned the device on, I got an entry for a "BAD_DEVICE".  The MAC address seemed to be very short(6 or 8 chars).  I seem unale to repeat this now.  I have re-checked all my soldering etc.

Any ideas?

bad build

You know I re-flashed my livebox with build 250 and I'm getting the same thing as you, so I don't think you've done anything wrong.  I'm investigating the cause, something has gone awry in my firmware build process as of build 250.  CrAp !

The 1st LED indicates activity on the ethernet, the 2nd that the init scripts have executed their final script and enabled the "power" led.  So your box hasn't crashed its running fine it just that it hasn't picked up an IP address for some reason so your effectively locked out.   Like I am - Once I've attached a serial console cable to my livebox I'll be able to tell what's going on.

I should have an answer for you by the end of today and a new .DWB for you download.

Will I need to buy a console

Just another little snippet of info for you, I started up my XFX app and don't see anything coming from Livebox at all.

Will I need to buy a console cable in order to reflash my system or is there a reset process?

I have one of these: female DB-9 to RJ-45 adapter (Cisco Part Number: 74-0495-01, labeled "terminal") and a cable marked AWM Style 20251 E129757  and has  LL97744 number on it.  Would this do the job?

You won't see anything on the

You won't see anything on the xFx console for the same reason that you don't see the livebox get an IP address, the ethernet ports are not being enabled for some odd reason.  Probably a driver issue.

A console cable isn't needed to reflash you just follow the same procedure that you did before to get the hah-firmware.dwb flashed. Personally I use a linux box and a TFTP server this is the simpliest method.

Once I've sorted out what is wrong in the DWB image I'll let you know until then you'll have to sit tight with a broken livebox.   If it helps any mine is broken too so I've got incentive to figure it out. :)

To get console access you need a little more than just a cable.

See: http://www.dbzoo.com/livebox/commandlineaccess#console_access_hardware

Update: Downgrade to build 246 I've verified the .DWB flashed ok.

Then use the built in auto updater to get back to version 250 - this works.  Its just the build 250 .DWB that is broken (very odd).
