I'm running 300 and tried it with Chrome ane IE8, has anyone else tried it?

Damn browsers - SHIT ME.

I tried this with FireFox and it worked perfectly.  I tried with Chrome and it broke.  JESUS CHRIST can't any of these assholes get their act together.  I REALLY REALLY REALLY hate web development.  Let me look into why its screwing up.  *sigh*

Worked for me yesterday in anger - using Chrome - confirmed it again just now.  Using Chrome 16.0.912.63m and a rather old

version of WinRAR 3.93.

Happy to answer any other config questions if it helps.

WinRAR?

Why/what did you use WinRAR for?

The backup works fine, but when I try a restore, the browser doesn't like the .gz file.  I can understand you using WinRAR to open and edit files on a PC, but I think the whole point of the backup and restore process is to have it all automated within the web gui.

I'll check my version of Chrome when I get home, but I think Google automatically update it, so i would think I'll be on the same version as you.

I simply click on back up and restore, as you say, using the gui.  However the file it makes is hah-backup.tar.gz - and that has the "stack of books" icon so I thought it might be useful information.

Good luck with sorting it.

Thanks Kim,  I think that the "stack of books" is the icon of the program you have associated with the .gz file extension on your PC, probably WinRAR in this case.  Have you tried to browse for the file and do a restore?  Does it work for you?

Thanks

It's a gzipped tarfile

The HAH runs a micro-Linux OS. Tar and gzip are popular unix backup/compression tools. The fact that Windoze maps Winrar to the .gz extension is interesting, but of no real significance to backup/restore on the HAH.

Re backup

Yes BoxingOrange - I used it in anger yesterday - see post 22/12/2011 17.49 in the Release 300

This is after selecting the file:

and this is the final result

Although you can see I have taken quite a time to work out how to insert pictures!  Also that it says "no file chosen"

as well as Restore successful.

I have confirmed it is truly working by setting up a new pachube datastream - backup - deleting the datastream - restoring

and seeing that the new datastream restored.

Hope that helps
