Byron RS3 Codes
Hi All -
I've just been given a load of these (Byron RS3 3000W power switch) - I think they're HomeEasy, but the old type with the pinwheel selector (choices are A-1, A-2, A-3 then B-1,B-2 etc to D-3).... are they compatible with the HAH Rf and can you point me at the relevant codes (I've looked in the wiki but there's no mention of Byron stuff and the HomEasy is for the learning modules!!).
Looking forward to being able to turn the kettle on from up in the office!!!!

Shouldn't that be "Kettle Empty!", if it's not empty you can boil it.
If you don't get anywhere with this I could have a go at decoding it for you. I'll need to take the transmitter apart and attach probes to the circuit, so there is a rick it might get broken, however, I've done a couple now without breaking one. So if you're happy to pay postage and accept the risks I can give it a go.
So to me, controller and remote are the same. I need the remote control unit which controls the socket, and the socket. Sorry to be pedantic, I just want to make sure we're talking about the right thing, any documentation might also be useful.
Why not send me a picture before you post it, and I can "see" if there's anything else,
Karl
Looking at the range, it does look like a cross between the Home Easy stuff and the ByeBye Standby range, not suprising since these were both made by Byron.
Could you post pics of the front and back of the remote and plug?, the back so we can see the label/partno

Well the remote looks identical to my HE200 (and if SN stands for serial number then we have the same serial number ;) ).

Derek has indicated above that the HE200 uses different coding, but it is entirely possible that the sockets will respond to BBSB or HE codes? You dont have BBSB or basic HE remotes by any chance?
Since it has a rotary selector switch I guess it is more likely to be like the BBSB than HE. Have you tried http://www.dbzoo.com/livebox/universalrf and in particuar the BBSB section of http://www.dbzoo.com/public/rf-helper.html?
How many different protocols can these people make up?

I have found the GUI sometimes doesn't update the Ini file correctly but have assumed this was due to me having modded it manually over time. If you are having trouble i suggest you just alter the Ini file manually, it's quite straight forward once you open it up you'll see the format to use! /etc/xap-livebox.ini Anyone else having GUI to Ini issues recently?! Garry
Most of the time i just mod the ini directly using the editor buit into winscp.
DO A BACKUP FIRST
my Joggler min/max connected to a jeenode out side measured -9.8, my wxstn measured -9 and the mercury min/max showed -10.
It was cold
the script pvoutput works a dream my immersion is on as i type, trouble with switching on devices that use aALOT of eleccy is take washing mc once its on you have to leave it on.
same with dishwasher.
My immersion can stand being switched on/off and it uses 750Watts-still got to mod it slightly to switch diodes out when i am generating over 2.5Kw so immersion would run at 1.5Kw-all free eleccy :)

I have updated the wiki with a note about Byron RS3 and BBSB codes

AFAIK, these haven't been decoded as yet. Do you have a transmitter unit? If it's an HE200 part, I think that the protocol may well be different from the HE units mentioned on the wiki.
... and watch out when turning on kettles via remote control. You would need some sort of 'kettle not empty' sensor before switching on.
