Just for information, looks like Lidl will have their remote control sockets in from 3rd November at £16.99 for a pack of 4.

Don't think these are the same plugs

Just a word of caution...

The ones on the lidl site for this week, 3rd Nov 2011, don't look the same as the Lidl ones that Derek stocks in the shop.  You cannot be certain these will work

i'm sure they can made to be.

if the rf protocol is different i'm sure they can be made to work as the rf sub-system has no restrictions about what it can control, once the protocol has been reverse engineered that is.

No

Not even sure my rf is working as i cannot get some old status ones to work :(

anyone pint me to the assembly instructions for the rf board connection stuff, i know it has to have an additional 15v line (has that) but it does not seem to "plug in very well".

codes i am trying, status and lidl as follows are they correct?

status on/off   01012C03770377012CB956BF00     01012C03770377012CB956B700

Just Got a Set

I'll see if I can work out the codes, it would be interesting to get the dimmer sockets working.

Do tell as the complete version

What build and AVR version are you running ?  These should report on the web page.

Check the voltage on the RF module

Might be a good idea to check that 12V is getting to the RF module. If you have a multimeter to hand, measure the voltage on the RF module itself (the silk screen legend will show you which two pins are Gnd and power).

Signal

Here's a first grab of the signal, this is for A-ON, you need to look at channel 7 :-

Lidl RF Signal

So apart from Brett and Derek, who's going to be the first to decode it?

try these

Dean, Try these to test your RF.. this is pair of LIDL codes that work for me on the newest verion of the firmware. (old lild sockets not the new type discussed in this thread)

Nice grab

This is a good. However, the first thing to grab is a trace that shows more than one RF 'burst'.

If you capture a few and can measure the time between one burst finishing & the next one starting, we have the first data point that we need.

Next, zoom in a bit and capture just one 'burst' on a single screen. This will allow the overall shape of the RF burst to be inspected.

Then zoom right in and measure (accurately) the times for the 'long hi, short low' and the 'short hi, long low' pulses.

Then, we have the datapoints that we need. Be prepared to find different pulse times at the beginning and the end of the 'burst' - many RF protocols have these.

Derek.

I'm actually doing all that now, there are a lot of measurements to take :-(  Getting there slowly,

As Derek says..

Would be good to see the pulse repeat to get interburst timings and also confirm we have seen the whole string, however, based on the image it looks to me like a rather simple 1bit per frame, 24frame pulse.

should be relatively easyto decode. ?!?!

Thanks

Update

The screen grab was a zoom of the whole capture.  The capture was of 13 bursts, but doesn't that depend on how long I hold the button down for?

A burst lasts for 39.65ms, with a gap of 7.1ms.  I'm just measuring the patterns, but I might be doing a bit of overkill;  I'm measuring the time for each high and low individually.  Should I be measuring from the start of the high to the end of the low as one measurement?

I'll post what I've got later, I just need to type them up now.

Lidl A-ON.txt contains the state, high or low, the  length of time the signal is in that state, and the measurement unit for the length of time.  Hope this helps.  If someone wants to describe the process for to convert the capture to actual codes for the HAH please do and I'll crack on with the rest.

I have the new Lidl sockets.

do you have codes for status sockets from asda?

status codes

I haven't tried them myself, but here is the data from the site:

pulsedef=01012C03770377012C
burstcount=12
interburstdelay=9000
frames=25

stream Description
B956BF00 Unit ON
B956B700 Unit OFF

Up to 16 sockets can be supported by altering the hex digit '9' in the above sequence thru '0'..'9' and 'A' .. 'F'.

Hmm

Yes tried those codes but am not sure about string make up as the burstcount of 12 can be reduced and i am not sure if it is in example given.

all very confusing. sure a lightbulb will come on in my head at some piont soon hopefully

hopefully someone has the fully packed string to hand?

Progress

Well, this is totally new to me, I've managed to find out that there are 5 different patterns for each button, so each time I press A - ON, it sends pattern 1, the next time I press it it sends pattern 2 etc once it gets to 5 it starts again with pattern 1.  I think this might be for the dimmer function, each press cycles another stage on the dimmer socket.  We could even do this with a little script :-)

I've decoded one of the patterns, but it doesn't work, so I can't have done it properly I guess.  I'm not sure about the long ON bit at the end either.

Anyone any ideas?

Look for the 20D10 and change the 10 at the end, this is a hex digit, so the number of data bursts is currently 16.  Let us know what works, it might be a timimg issue or something else.

It's probably also worth mentioning that these units also remember their code if unplugged and plugged back in again.

Data Bursts

I'm not sure if it's because of the number of walls between the HAH and the sockets, but I need to set the data bursts figure to about &H30 to make sure that the socket reacts. I don't have an extension aerial and I've not tried any other remote sockets before.

What figure are others using?

Do you have the same problem with the supplied remote?

Mmmmmmm

Well I guess that the supplied remote does seem a little "sticky" insofar as the socket doesn't always react to the first button press command.

Maybe these sockets are not very reliable.
