/var/xap-xively.log. error messages

I am getting the errors below in the /var/xap-xively.log.

The strange thing is, xively is still being updated but twitter stops working (no errors in the twitter log). This is happening 3 -4 times a month.

If I restart xively, no change. If I power cycle HAH all is working again.

I have HAH relay 4, connected to HAH input 4, which runs a Twitter script when the relay operates. Every morning a cron command is sent to operate HAH relay 4 at 09:00 for 5 minutes, this is detected by the twitter script and xively. Xively passes this change onto Zapier, Zapier passes this on to my Twitter account. I Then receive two SMS text messages one from Twitter and one from Zapier via Twitter. Hope this makes sense. When I get the error data in the xively.log the SMS stops reporting from Twitter but the Xively to Zapier to Twitter still works. Also if I Tweet “hah rf 1 on”, this does not work, but an SMS is generated. So it would appear that Twitter has stopped.

Not sure about those errors

Not sure about those errors but yesterday xivley's site started responding with:

Google has disabled use of the Maps API for this application. The key provided is not a valid Google API Key or it is not authorised for the Google Maps JavaScript API v3 on this site. If you are the owner of this application, you can learn about obtaining a valid key here: https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/tutorial#api...

My xap-xively.log isn't recording any errors but maybe this is going to break sometime soon.

Twitter up and down

Allan thanks for your comments.

Just to confuse matters Twitter itself has been up and down over the past few days according to https://downdetector.co.uk/problems/twitter.

Will monitor Twitter over the next few weeks to see how stable is.

I use Twitter to monitor my fire/burglar alarm; it sends me a SMS if a problem has been detected.

If it becomes problematic I will migrate over to an email script.

I wrote somethings about this

I wrote somethings about this once before:

There is no coding bug that I can find - I looked really hard the last time this was reported.

Possibly capture the debug data to a file.

Brett

Is there any way that I could capture the xively debug data to a file. May be on a USB memory stick plugged in to the HAH.

As i said the strange thing is xively still works, but twitter stops when i see the the error in the xively log.

Hi Kema,My internet has been

Hi Kema,

My internet has been much more stable recently but on the odd occasion that it goes down for a reasonable length of time I too find that twitter stops responding. I have never found any error logs in twitter log file though. The error logs in xively are just telling you that you have had an internet outage and I'm not sure what capturing more of these logs will tell you. Xively recovers fine after internet outages (at least it does for me).

I think this will be very difficult to get to the bottom of without any twitter logs. Maybe easier to write a script to restart twitter if twitter stops (that said, I have never checked if heartbeats stop or not)

it happens so rarely for me that I have to say I've been ignoring it.

thanks,

Garry

Solved

Garry

This is excellent information; I never thought it could be my internet connection going down. I am on BT infinity, will now monitor my internet connection more closely. I also concur that xively continues to report without any problems.

Allan had a similar problem back in November 2014.

Unfortunately as you know, I am very much a beginner as to writing scripts.

This can now go on the back burner. Will now avert my attention to trying to get URF Rx working.

Many thanks
