I too saw this a few days ago as well, we must surf the same sites. Fun is the keyword. I do this because its fun, home automation is not an end goal, its a side effect of having fun.

Nice and polished
Looks nice and polished (boxes), I especially like the hdmi/TV based control.
Similar could in simplest form perhaps be done via Pi, hdmi/TV/CEC control, fullscreen webpage app, sending xAP commands and getting info back via xAP Cache? Hm, would that be version of HAH/klone on Pi then actually?
Well it looks interesting, question is, what would it do that we can't; lack of access means it wouldn't be any fun.
